Jeanne Obert is a founder and the Executive Director of Matrix Institute, an outpatient treatment center in the greater Los Angeles area affiliated with the UCLA Integrated Substance Abuse Programs. She is one of the developers of the Matrix Model of Intensive Outpatient Treatment and the Matrix Model for Teens and Young Adults. She has worked within Matrix to create a system designed to disseminate the Model with fidelity nationally and internationally. Ms. Obert has master’s degrees in both business and family therapy. She has done clinically training throughout the world, most recently in Japan, China and South Africa.
Ms. Obert is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Supervisor. She has a master's degree in business management (MSM), she is a Motivational Interviewing Trainer trained by Bill Miller, and she works as a consultant for the National Institute on Drug Abuse and the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment. She served as an Expert Trainer on a Motivational Enhancement study led by Yale University as part of the NIDA Community Trials Network (CTN) and serves on numerous Boards of Directors – including the National Scientific Advisory Board for Phoenix House. She has authored or co-authored over 50 articles, book chapters, and treatment manuals.
