Research Interests

Yarelix Estrada grew up in Miami, Florida and moved to Baltimore to attend Johns Hopkins University to study Public Health. During her time at the University, Ms. Estrada worked as a Research Assistant at the Behavioral Pharmacology Research Unit (BPRU) on a study of extended-release naltrexone (Vivitrol┬«) in an outpatient setting. She is currently working towards her Master of Science in Public Health, with a concentration in Health Policy, from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health (JHSPH). During her tenure at the JHSPH, she has worked with the Baltimore Harm Reduction Coalition and the International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology, in addition to founding a chapter of Students for Sensible Drug Policy at the School. 

At FRI, Ms. Estrada will work on the NIDA-funded project "Navigation Services to Avoid Rehospitalization," or NavSTAR, conducted at the University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore, Maryland. She is excited to have the opportunity to engage in substance abuse research within the Baltimore community.
