Cristin L. Monroe Degree: B.A., Social Work, University of Maryland, Baltimore County |
Research Interests
Mrs. Monroe, a Baltimore native, attended college at UMBC. After her first year in college, she traveled to Ethiopia to help teach English to underprivileged second grade students. When she returned, she decided that she wanted to devote her life to helping others, which led to her getting a bachelor’s in Social Work. At FRI, Cristin will be assisting Dr. Mitchell on her NIDA-funded study comparing intensive outpatient v. standard outpatient counseling when combined with buprenorphine for heroin-dependent African Americans. She is excited to have the opportunity to be involved with a study that could help make a difference in the lives of those struggling with addiction.
